Nickel NP1

Nickel is a chemical element with symbol Ni, atomic weight 58.69 and atomic number 28, and specific weight 8.90 making up 0.008% of the Earth's crust. However, when the deeper core of the Earth is included, it is the fifth most common element after iron, oxygen, silicon and magnesium. In nature, it is found rarely in the native state, always in alloys with iron. Nickel is a lustrous, silvery-white metal discovered in 1751, albeit evidence of its use dates back many centuries, and it has the following characteristics:

  • Excellent strength and toughness at high temperatures (similar to those of mild steels (tensile strength variable according to the degree of strain hardening);
  • A melting point of 1,453 °C (has good welding and working characteristics for plastic deformation both hot and cold and to shaping machine tools);
  • Relatively low thermal and electrical conductivities;
  • High resistance to corrosion and oxidation (offers excellent resistance to atmospheric agents and to alkaline solutions mainly due to passivation phenomena);
  • Capable of being magnetized.

A strategic metal powering high-performance materials and advanced technologies.

Nickel is widely used in over 300,000 products for consumer, industrial, military, transport/aerospace, marine, catalyst, rechargeable batteries, microelectronic, medical, automotive and architectural applications.

About 65-70% of nickel is used to manufacture stainless steel including austenitic stainless-steel products.
The remaining 30-35% goes into super-alloys (widely used because of their corrosion resistance). The ultra-unalloyed nickel has an even higher degree of purity that can be obtained after treating furthermore the nickel with electrochemical refining and zone melting.

Tokenizing Ultra-Pure Nickel Wire: Unlocking a High-Value Industrial Asset

Alkemya Luxembourg S.à r.l. is advancing a strategic initiative to transform its inventory of ultra-pure, ultra-fine nickel wire into a digital, investable asset. This material—characterized by exceptional purity, precision diameter, and performance—plays a critical role in next-generation applications across advanced engineering, energy technologies, and high-tech manufacturing.

To achieve this, the asset is contributed to a dedicated vehicle, Alkemya Metacore SCSp, which issues digital limited partnership interests directly backed by the underlying metal. This structure pairs the reliability of a tangible, high-grade industrial commodity with the efficiency, transparency, and accessibility of modern digital financial infrastructure.

The capital raised will accelerate research and development, broaden commercial use cases for ultra-pure nickel wire, scale the related technology business, and reinforce the group’s operational capabilities.

By adopting tokenization, Alkemya can enhance the value of a unique industrial asset while opening its doors to a broader range of investors who seek exposure to high-value, technology-driven materials supported by a robust physical foundation.

Goal

Multiple benefits will be realised from tokenisation, including a broader investor base and a wider geographic reach 5. US and European hystorical exchanges are all developing tokenisation offers. From the creation of trading assets to vibrant digitai markets, the value chain is evolving.

Purpose and Process: Although the COVID-19 pandemie triggered an acute reduction of metals prices, the global demand of industrial metals is at an ali-time high, driven by megatrends like renewable energy production, vehicle electrification and nanoscale wafer fabrication.

The total market size is anticipated to grow from 3.3 trillion EUR in 2020 to 4.6 trillion in 2025, with an implicit CAGR of 7%1. Albeit the prices have been volatile due to supply chain issues, their demand is steadily increasing.

The market is divided into old and new metals. Steel ores are stabilized as pricing, but growth is rapid among high value metals that benefit from energy transformation, including copper, nickel and alluminium.

Nickel is one of the industriai metals that benefits most from such trends. Thousands of products in the industrial, military, transportation, aerospace, marine and architectural sectors use nickel. As a result, nickel has become an essential intermediate commodity in some of the fastest growing industrial markets. By way of example, nickel is a key component of rechargeable battery systems, which comprises up to 80% of the content in new types of batteries. These are an absolutely crucial component in electric vehicles.

However, the industrial metals market is not accessible to most investors, except through futures contracts. lt is rare for professional investors to invest directly in commodities. This will change with the application of the blockchain technology and, in particular, the representation of industrial metal assets, such as tokens, listed on a blockchain.
